Is there an option to the iPad 2? Yes, kind of….. There are other tablets, some with great features, and some with cheaper data plans. The iPad will have more applications, at least for now, but the Zoom has some advantages to being an open format, and the use of flash programming.

Question: Do you have a plan, and purchase from the plan? Or, do you purchase the next toy and gadget and try to figure out a way to make it work? Would it benefit you to have someone sit with you, look at your current technology and see how to best use what you have? Looking for an iPad, not sure how to make it work in your environment? Would it benefit you to have a professional look at your setup and make sure you can get the most out of the items you want to use?

This was a timely update. We are planning a trip to Cape Cod this summer, over Memorial Day weekend and thru the following week. So, traveling all the way up the I-95 corridor on the first big holiday weekend of the year is a bit worrisome. Google to the rescue!

We’ve all been there, when we are purchasing our newest phone, and we have to make a choice: $15 for the 1GB data plan, or $35 for the 5GB data plan. How much do I use? Do texts and tweets count? When I check email, am I downloading content or just viewing? Invariably, we make the wrong choice. Pick the $15 plan, and you get a sticker shock on your next bill when you see what downloading those ring tones really cost you. Buy the $35 plan, and realize that extra $20 you just threw away would have been nice to have at the grocery store this week. There are various applications that will tell you your usage, here is a new one for all you Droid users.

Are you running Windows Server 2003? Windows Small Business Server 2003? If so, not only is your product close to out of support, but your hardware is likely 5+ years old. When hardware failure occurs, are you prepared? Do you have a plan? Can you recover your data? How long can you afford to be down while your environment is rebuilt?

Taking a proactive approach to hardware replacement allows for many things. An important advantage is you can make clear, intelligent decisions because you can plan for the event. Having to make the decision after the fact can cost more in both time and money. Reactive, as a general rule, is far costlier than proactive.

Many have tried robocalls to the home, email messages, mailings, etc. The problem is, many customers view everything as spam or junk mail and disregard the notification. With everyone using cell phones, consumers will go days without checking the voicemail at their home. One thing almost everyone gets, though, are text messages. How often do you disregard a text? Small businesses such as trades (plumbing, extermination, electricians, etc.) and medical offices may want to explore appointment confirmation via Text, or SMS messaging.
