Step two is use a Baldwin fuel filter. (the Wix/Carquest/NAPA filters are the worst. Donaldsons are a problem also) The fuel plate can also crack and suck air, but you'll generally get a loss of power also.

Replaced injectors (OUCH!) and symptoms persisted. A few weeks ago an intermittent misfire developed. It came very occasionally and always seemed to clear itself up with a blip of the throttle or a pull past 2300rpm.
